Studio Apartment Home Decor Tour
Hey friends! I recently asked on my Instagram stories what you search for when you head to Pinterest. One hundred percent of those who responded voted for home decor over travel ideas. And that honestly shocked me! So, I wanted to give to people what they are clearly asking for!
Jarrett and I moved into a small, studio apartment in Norfolk, Virginia in March of this year and just finished the final touches on our decor. Thanks, husband, for hanging our wedding gallery wall- the final touch! Today’s post is a look at our space, a full studio apartment home decor tour! I have linked items that we have, or the most similar things I can find, in case you want to shop! And be sure to pin these pictures if you’re just looking for a little inspiration.
Here’s our studio apartment home decor tour!

I spend a lot of time in this room, so when we moved, a top priority was having enough space. The kitchen is definitely not my aesthetic, but it is a very nice room. I just prefer white and bright, especially since it is so far from any windows for natural lighting. But, it gets the job done so I can’t complain.
There’s really not much in here in terms of decor. I do love displaying a few cutting boards, and of course, my beloved KitchenAid Mixer (currently on a big sale!!).
Okay, so as you can see, it’s definitely a small studio apartment! Ha! See that bed, right behind that couch? Yeah, that took a bit of getting used to. I bought this couch about 5 years ago and it’s honestly still in great shape! It is easy to clean and comfortable! It is a bit small for two people to lounge on, but if you don’t mind being a bit on top of each other, it’s perfect!
*My couch isn’t sold anymore, but here are a few similar options:
The gray pillows came with the couch, and the striped pillow was a Home Goods find. The blue blanket on the side was a gift from my mom, from Anthropologie and I love it! I don’t think you can tell, but it has tassels on the side. 🙂
Our area rug is a natural fiber jute rug, so it’s not soft underfoot. It does not shed at all, which is so nice! This rug would actually look really cute with a soft patterned rug layered on top, but we don’t get enough light in our apartment, or have enough room to make that work. The price was amazing and there any a few colors to choose from to make it go with your decor. Plus, it is on Amazon Prime!

The piece on the top right is very special to me. My grandpa designed font, and these were letters he used for printmaking. It’s the alphabet, which he loved! And then this artificial fiddle leaf fig sits in a cute basket that you can’t actually see. Sorry about that!
Alright, this is a view of our dining area! For a little perspective, the kitchen is to your right, and the living area is to your left. I’m standing in a little hallway that leads to the bathroom.
Our table was another college find and has seen better days. But, it cost $100 for the table with a leaf, and four chairs. That is what I call thrifty. I used to throw a tablecloth on all the time to hide the watermarks, but it was constantly covered in cat hair. We are just living the life around here! Ha!
These bookcases were handed down to use by my aunt and uncle, and I love them! They are Crate and Barrel, and such good quality pieces. This is a similar shelving unit from Crate and Barrel, that’s currently in stock.
I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy styling bookcases. For this apartment, I stuck to mostly neutrals and blues in the main area. The books are turned around so you get that seamless paper color instead of the spines! Pieces like this really make for great studio apartment home decor, because they are functional storage but can be so pretty!
Here are a few ladder bookcases that are more affordable options:
On to the “bedroom!” I actually really love our bed set-up, but just wish that little red emergency box wasn’t there. It’s really cramping my style. And no, unfortunately the cute cat on the bed is not for sale.
Our bed is a low platform that we actually purchased from Walmart! In general, I actually really hate Walmart. But, this was online and it was such a good price!
Our duvet is unfortunately not made anymore, but here are a few other options!
Here are a few similar throw pillows:
Blue Velvet– this is actually the exact pillow cover I used 🙂

Our end tables were a Wayfair find and came assembled! There is plenty of storage space and I love that there are two flat surfaces to display pieces. Key for studio apartment home decor.
Now, for the beautiful gallery wall that hangs above our bed! Its definitely a big, black-and-white shrine to our wedding day, but I love it! All of the picture frames are from Ikea and we had the pictures printed from Mpix. I highly recommend Mpix for printing. They were so affordable and such great quality!
This corner holds a bookcase, that we actually use for a dresser. It was affordable and a piece that we could transition to another use when we move to a larger space/can actually afford a dresser I liked the look of. Ha! Plus, I got to choose what baskets we used as inserts and could mix and match.
On top sits a few fun pieces. Left to right: vase filled with artificial palm leaves. Candles that have never been lit (ha!), inside of pretty glass hurricanes. Stack of books with a “vacation money” jar on top, that actually has foreign currency in it. A very special figurine that belonged to my grandmother. Framed picture of horses. 🙂
The mirror was another Home Goods or T.J. Maxx find, but here are a few similar options:
Okay, obviously nothing too special about this bathroom, but I promised to give you the tour. Our decor in the bathroom was mostly neutral/woody tones with a few shades of blue. Pretty similar to the main living areas in our apartment.
Here are the links to our towels (hand, face, bath), which I love, and here’s the little wicker storage basket that sits on our sink. We don’t have drawers for storage space in this apartment, which was a huge bummer. So this basket helps hide all of the little things we use every day.
Here’s another quick view from the doorway. Our shower curtain was a clearance find at Target years ago, and I just kept it in a closet until we moved here. Ha! Our previous apartment had a glass shower door, which I didn’t know until we moved in. So, this was intended for that apartment, and not needed. Wow, that was a long story about a shower curtain.
Also, I highly recommend you get a Squatty Potty. Just saying. It was a wedding present and we love it.
This hanging shelving unit sits above our toilet and is mostly just for decorative purposes. We needed a place to display my cute little “Duck Donuts” surfer, right?
Lastly, we have this pretty blue bookcase that actually was my mom’s growing up! At this point, it’s definitely gaining that “distressed” vibe, but I love it. Part storage solution/part pretty place to display my Beautycounter goods. I love these glass canisters!
P.S. I just became a Beautycounter consultant and will be doing a post about why I chose to do that next! If you would like to support me and purchase products through my link, I would love you forever and ever. Just saying. You get beauty products that are more highly tested that traditional personal care products, and I get to keep doing this!
Alrighty, that was a much longer post than I anticipated. But, I hope you enjoyed this peek into our home!
