Happy Friday, wonderful people! Can you believe it is already March? I feel like January dragged on forever and a day, and February flew by! Activity Tracker: Syncs with VeryFit Pro App
I received this activity tracker for Christmas! It took me a few weeks to set this bad boy up, mostly due to needing to recover from the holiday chaos that I’m sure you all feel as well. This past month, I began wearing it daily and guys, I was appalled at how little I walk at work! I have always thought of my job, as a physical therapist, as fairly active. But, it turns out, its just a lot of standing around.
For the majority of February, I just used it to get an idea of my daily activity. This past week however, I have really been trying to hit my 10,000 steps! It has been a lot of pacing around the apartment at night, but I’m hoping to start incorporating more throughout my day. My cats are seriously confused! haha
This tracker can also be used for monitoring your sleep and heart rate, but I don’t know how accurate it actually is. Some days it will say my resting heart rate is 60, some days its 90! The tracker syncs to the VeryFit Pro app, so you can check your daily activity and compare to previous days or weeks. Do you wear an activity tracker? Which brand have you been loving?
I have been on a major overnight oats kick the past couple weeks! I used to make these frequently, especially when I meal prepped more diligently. Now that I do not work many evenings, I cook 3-4 times per week and therefore, don’t spend Sundays prepping.
February was all about simplifying my morning routine and because of that, I have re-introduced overnight oats. Specifically, chocolate overnight oats! Here’s my recipe:
Combine the following in a mason jar-
1/2 cup quick oats
1 tsp chia seeds
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (mixed with either water or almond milk in a shaker ahead of time)- this is your liquid
1 tbsp. peanut butter
The morning I eat the oats, I add in 1/2 serving chocolate chips and half of a banana. I eat my oats warm, but this would probably taste great cold as well! It is the perfect grab-and-go breakfast.
Other favorites in the past have been maple brown sugar, peanut butter and jelly, and vanilla blueberry! Do you have an oatmeal recipe you want to share?
Fiber One Brownies
I have had a major sweet tooth since the holidays. Anyone else feel this way? My sweet tooth however, is now more throughout the day, versus for dessert at night! I have been loving FiberOne Brownies lately and the fact that its an easy, 90-calorie treat that aids in healthy digestion.
They are the perfect size to curb that craving and are great both straight out of the wrapper and warmed up! I’ve also thrown a little peanut butter on top and it’s heavenly. There are other varieties to choose from, like chocolate chip and raspberry, but good ole chocolate is my current favorite! Have you tried these before?
I seem to be on a digestion-kick with these food favorites this month… maybe it was all of the not-so-great food I ate over the holidays! In any case, kombucha had been on my radar for a while before I tried it and I’m so sad I waited as long as I did. This tends to be my guilty pleasure, must-have from Target recently. Kombucha is supposed to have the following properties: detoxification, aids in digestion, and strengthens the immune system.
Specifically, I really love the brand Kevita, with raspberry lemon being my favorite flavor! The other brand I have tried is Hum, which was also tasty, but just not as good as Kevita. Do you have any recommendations on kombucha brands or flavors? I have not yet tried it from a brewery or restaurant, but will be on the lookout in the future!
Crest 3D White: Whitening Toothpaste and Mouthwash
With our wedding rapidly approaching, I have started focusing on more “beauty” tasks and teeth whitening is definitely on the list! Even though I don’t drink things that lead to staining (like coffee), I still want to try to get that bright white smile for all of the wedding pictures in my future!
The products are not super minty (I use Arctic Fresh), or crazy intense the way some mouth washes tend to be, but I have been loving the flavor. I have gotten back into my flossing routine as well, which has always been so hard for me to keep up with! Anyone else feel this way??
Batiste Dry Shampoo
Last, but not least, I have been using this dry shampoo a few times a week. I have trying to get out of the routine of washing my hair daily, because it seemed to be extra dry and brittle this winter! Plus, I have always heard that washing frequently just increases oil production. Currently, I am washing my hair about 4 times a week, which is tough since I workout almost daily! This dry shampoo has certainly been helping, but I don’t feel like I could wear my hair down multiple days in a row.
The spray goes on white, but once you rub it into your roots and brush your hair out, the coloring diminishes. It does have an slight smell, but nothing strong. I purchased a 2-pack from Amazon, and there are a bunch of different types of this spray to choose from.
