Highlights from 2018

Happy Friday, happy January, happy 2019! I entered this new year battling a cold and fever, so it’s only up from here, right?! I’m starting to feel much better and cannot wait to get going on today’s post. Last year, I did a little year in review and loved reading it prior to writing this one! You forget just how much happens in a year when life continues to push forward at full speed.

This was quite the year for Jarrett and myself, so I’m not going to waste more time chit-chatting. Here’s a recap of my 2018 highlights!

2018 Year in Review

January 4: Started off the year with a “bomb cyclone” snow storm!

Just as Jarrett and I returned from New Hampshire, Mother Nature decided to dump snow on Virginia. Having both grown up in snow country, we didn’t think 6-8 inches of snow was that big of a deal. However, the rest of Virginia Beach disagreed!

Work was shut down for days, streets were left covered in snow, no one left their houses… it was a madhouse! The craziest thing to me was that streets just weren’t plowed. There isn’t enough equipment to clear anything beyond the main roads, so people just stay at home until it melts. Insanity!

March 31: Celebrated at my bridal shower in New Hampshire!

Jarrett and I trekked up to New Hampshire for a long weekend to celebrate at my bridal shower! My mom and sister, Elli, through a bridal brunch, complete with a mimosa bar and donuts, of course! This was just the start of the wedding festivities and wedding related 2018 highlights 🙂

May 25: Celebrated some more at my bachelorette in Newport

And my girls continued to spoil me at my bachelorette party in Newport, Rhode Island! I had the best time sipping mimosas on a sailboat (sense a theme? ha!), heading to various wineries, and walking around the adorable downtown area.

June 23: Got married!

Let’s just say this was the highlight of 2018! Jarrett and I got married in New Hampshire, surrounded by friends and family. Definitely the best day of my life 🙂

June 25-July 4: Honeymoon’d in Belize

Alright, these 10 days were also incredible! We stayed on both an island and in a jungle lodge and highly recommend our honeymoon itinerary to anyone interested in heading to the Central American country.

October 1: One Year Blog Anniversary

I celebrated one year over here! I’m pretty proud of the successes I had my first year, including a lot of campaigns, with Jord Watches (twice!), Smile Brilliant, and Basic Invite. Do I wish I accomplished more? Yes! But, that only means I have a lot to work on in this next year.

October 19-21: Sister’s Bachelorette weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia

Charlottesville, virginia bachelorette

We celebrated my sister with a bachelorette in Charlottesville, complete with a day of wineries and lots of food! I love Charlottesville and have been a few times, but Jarrett and I definitely need to get back there in 2019. Weekend trips are always highlights!

November 21-25: Spent Thanksgiving in NH and had my sister’s bridal shower!

We made the drive to NH once again (for like the 4th time in 2018?) to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families and to throw my sister her “he popped the question” bridal shower! I loved how the theme ended up coming together and had such a great time with family and friends.

December 27-30: Ended the year with my sister’s wedding in Charleston, South Carolina!

Is there a better way to end an incredible year than by watching your sister get married? I don’t think so! I was lucky enough to stand by my sister’s side, as she married the love of her life on December 29th! This capped off my 2018 highlights!

More details to come in a future post 🙂

Alright! That about wraps up 2018. It’s going to be tough to beat this past year, but I am really looking forward to what 2019 has to offer. We have more travel plans in the future and I hope to accomplish more on this blog!
